As a surprise gift to 90-year-old American composer Gordon Getty, Apple’s Vice President of Engineering Payam Mirrashidi announced that Apple has released the “Gordon Getty Essential” playlist on the Apple Music and Apple Music Classical apps. The announcement was made on March 7, 2024 at Festival Napa Valley’s Angels of the Arts award presentation, honoring Getty for his outstanding contributions to the arts.
